With Harp and Voice - the Story
In July, 2006, Keith Spencer was asked by The September 11 Foundation to program and perform a concert in New York City in memory of those who died in the attacks on September 11, 2001. He immediately called his brother Mark to accompany him on the harp, "an instrument," says Keith Spencer, "whose sound, in combination with the human voice, is uniquely inviting and intimate."

Keith lives in New York City as well as Hillsdale, NY. He previously worked at the World Trade Center and witnessed first-hand the attack on the Twin Towers. For the memorial concert, he explains, "I tried to stay away from weighty or tragic songs. Rather, I wanted to choose pieces that the victims’ friends and families might have chosen to honor them. Most of these songs are familiar, of a religious or spiritual nature. Two are my own compositions. One of them, With Harp and Voice, will be having its first public performance in Hudson."

The Spencer Brothers were overwhelmed at the response to the New York City concert. They have repeated the program in several other places over the past year, and have just completed the CD to be introduced at the beautiful chapel attached to Carrie and Nick Haddad’s house in Hudson on October 6. Not only is the evening a debut performance of the CD, it is the inaugural public event in the space.
